The months are flying, already the end of April is around the corner. Where is 2010 going? We've had a busy season but its slowing down a bit. With the flow of international teams from the U.S. and Canada, our call was around the clock. Heading to King's Children Home, painting their new buildings, work projects around the base, a successful sports camp for kids during the long 2 week Easter break- it was a gust of activities. We had some great partners join us over these past months...Calgary Christian School- adding a new face to our "Chat n' Chew" (snack shop here on base). Calgary youth group entertaining the kids in Belmopan and serving on base cheerfully! Eastlake Community Church from SC, USA, hosting a sports camp for kids around the area. They intermingled sports with small devotions- highlighting the skills that God has given us to use to glorify Him. The verse for the week was Proverbs 3:5-6. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." At the end of the week, the team awarded all the participants with a medal to congratulate them for their hard work and dedication over the week. One little girl responded after she received her medal, "Wow, its a real medal!" The kids were so excited at this opportunity! During this week one of our former DTS students, Kevan from southern Belize, came with 2 other young men to run the football (soccer) training. It was amazing to see the a group of young boys rise to the occasion. Dennison and Kevin (teens with soccer training) challenged the players to work hard, play with excellence and never give up...we saw them flourish in this setting. It has perked the interest of these young men to begin a soccer ministry- using sports to instill good values to these young boys and show them Jesus is in every aspect of life. Right now we have an intern on base, Hannah comes from Crown College in Minnesota. She's a music major, with an emphasis in worship. She's been a blessing, helping at the preschool- teaching songs with actions. Also in the Christian high school-Cayo Christian Academy- Hannah began teaching music theory to middle school students this week. She's jumping to help lead worship in our church with Omar and also Jubilee Church, in Roaring Creek. We are excited to have her here and look forward to God meeting all her expectations as she experiences through a different pair of glasses.
Summer is nearing and with it begins Discipleship Training School- July 1st. We have 4 students thus far and praying for 10 in total. The school will run till November 23rd, ending right before Thanksgiving. Outreach is set to make an impact in Mexico City...all of YWAM is focusing on this area to be the hands and feet of Jesus in this city. The group will also be heading to the Dominican Republic, where Youth With A Mission's 50th Anniversary celebration will be held. Our students will be helping to serve in the conference while having the opportunity to rub shoulders with leaders in YWAM and missions around the world, mainly in the Caribbean. They will receive teaching and history from the founders of YWAM, Loren and Darlene Cunningham. What a great opportunity!!
We are excited for all that lays ahead! Please be in prayer with us for:
- the students that God wants to be at our Discipleship Training School, beginning July 1st.
- provisions for the students and staff of this school
- the DTS school on outreach right now- they're finishing up their outreach in El Salvador.
love and blessings to you all!!
