We're home...

Hey All,
We arrived!!
We crossed the border into Belize at about 9 am yesterday. Thankfully, the journey home went smoothly and God provided every step of the way. We slept at the airport in Chile because we didn't want to take any chances, we were determined to get home by Wednesday!
Graduation was last night, everything went well; the students looked beautiful and handsome...so proud of every one of them. They shared stories about outreach and what God had done in their life over this past 5 months, God is so intimate with each one. Surprisingly, I didn't cry- I really love all these students. It seems surreal that its done, another school and more goodbyes to say this weekend. That's my least favorite thing about DTS- you meet amazing people, see God transform their lives, know them for exactly who they are and after don't know when you'll see them again. Who knows...the world keeps getting smaller with all the people God brings into your life.
Right now, I'm catching up on laundry and trying to remove all the mold that has made a home in our house, yuk!! We are grateful to be here and not sweating- there's a cold front in Belize right now!!!
Thank you so much to all that have stood with us in prayer and financially during this time. We've seen prayers answered and God's hand move....
(more stories to come)
Love,
Omar & Alyssa

The border didn't open till 8am this morning with 300+ vehicles waiting to pass through. So, we wouldn't have been able to pass through on time for our flight...thanks for all your prayers!!

Still in Argentina:)

Well, if you've been tracking our story- I hope there's been a few chuckles and some prayers going up to heaven for us!
This has been an eventful two days- we'll be in Mendoza, Argentina, until Monday. Monday morning we'll bus to Santiago, Chile to fly out the next morning to Guatemala.
We spent about 5 hours yesterday dealing with different airline concerns...Praise the Lord. After waiting at the bus station for half of the day to see if there might be a slight possibility that the Chile border would open, we headed directly to the airport. The Mendoza YWAM base director had reserved an airline ticket for Lajuane, so we went to see him off. Upon trying to pay for the ticket, the airline agents told us that we couldn't pay there and had to go back to the travel agent, located downtown, obviously not by the airport. So, to the travel agent- buy the ticket, back to the airport...hugs and last minute directions to Lajuane. Phew, the flight was already boarding...

Omar and I then headed back downtown to the internet place. We spent hours, contacting everyone to let them know of the changes and trying to contact TACA airlines to change the tickets for the rest of the team. After so much time and no possibilities of being able to pay- the quoted price to change was $580 usd per person- we headed back to the base. Then round 2 came- we camped out in the base director's house, making calls to the airline company in other countries, desperately trying anything. At 1:30 am we left with no progress.
-
This morning we awoke to tackle it again- God is faithful. We were first given the price of over $500 usd per person to change the flights. After she talked with her supervisor they decided we only had to pay $50 per person, $350 for the team. Thank you Jesus...tears of joy filled my eyes. Before they gave us the final price, peace was over our hearts and minds, God provides for us no matter how impossible it seems. We are rejoicing today....

So, we'll begin our end of DTS teaching this week and evaluations for each student...

Pray for God's grace and life over this time. We are so grateful for this miracle!! Thank you to all those standing in prayer with us, it made the difference!

from Argentina....

Need Prayers STAT!!!!
We are in Mendoza, Argentina, right now and the border for Chile is closed because the border immigration is on strike. We are waiting in the bus station until 2pm (11am Belize time) to see if they will open the border. Our time is crucial because we fly out of Santiago, Chile at 7:30am. So, if we don't make it across the border on time, we'll miss our flight and have to make all those travel arrangements. Plus another available flight to Guatemala City is not until Tuesday, November 18th, which would put us in Belize on Wednesday.

Please pray that God's favor will be on us and the Immigration office at the border to deal with this speedily. That God would stop time (or something) to get the line up at the border through.

Ahhhhh.....God has been faithful thus far and we're looking to Him.

Leaving on a bus ride...

¡Hola! Como estas?

Aren´t you guys impressed...I really have learned more Spanish than that...come on!

Our outreach is winding down, tomorrow we leave Mendoza for Santiago, Chile. On Thursday we fly to Guatemala and arrive to Belize border via bus, early morning Friday. It has been a real adventure and we´ve seen God´s reflection so much in the people of Argentina...they´re beautiful.

Our days in the desert were an absolute blessing...we met wonderful families, living in conditions that are far from tipical to us. It is an amazing place and God´s voice is heard so much clearer there...perhaps it was the breath-taking sky or the sand that stretched for miles or the smiling faces and more than giving families that live there. We have been blessed more richly than we could every imagine.

I do want to tell you one story:
On the way to visiting a family, in the park reserve they have in El Campo, the truck we were driving got stuck. The right rear tire started spinning in the soft sand...we were able to dig our way out of that one, only to sink further in the sand two feet ahead on the road. Our intended goal to share with some of the famililies, only a 20 minute drive from where we were staying ended after 4 hours. We drove 2 to 5 feet and would get stuck in yet another sand dune. We collected twigs from the land to add traction to the tires...one of the students joked saying..¨we understand the way of this game.¨ The truck drives 2 feet, gets stuck, we collect sticks from the knarley bushes in the desert, only to push the truck 2 more feet...and repeat the process all over again. It was rather amusing, increased our prayer life and showed the true character of people. Everyone was great...positive attitudes, working together so patiently.

God speaks in these moments...its like we´re never finished depending on God´s grace. His mercy is great and His love is grand. We were so grateful and it was a still moment furiously driving out of that sand pit....

Pray for God´s protection as we travel over these next few days...we´re still open to whatever God wants to speak to us...Please pray for one of our students...his mother died and he´ll be attending the funeral as soon as we arrive in Belize.

thanks for standing with us...

Whoa...our time in Mendoza, Argentina has been amazing. Our three day fast was a uniting tool for the team and pulling together all in the same cause. The people of Argentina are beautiful and we so enjoy and are inspired by YWAM (JUCUM) here...they are living the dreams of God. We´ve had the privledge to prophetically declare and sow into the building that will house the schools of YWAM Mendoza in the future. We´ve spent time encouraging a youth group and connecting with the different ones. Tomorrow we leave for El Campo, the desert tribe ministry. Please be praying for us...we´ll be gone for 4 days working alongside the people there, sharing life with them and witnessing to them by our lives. In order to get there, we´ll take a bus and get off at the last stop to drive a 4x4 into the desert. They call it the camp as a prohetic name to call forth the things God will do there and not capitalizing on the dry, barren atmosphere of the desert. We´ll also be inviting the kids in this community to the YWAM base for La Semana Diferente. This is a one week celebration the YWAM base hosts for the kids to come and live at the base and experience life from a different perspective. They speak hope into their lives and bless them a whole bunch...

Thanks for standing with us while God´s hands are extended to all His peoples....
Omar, Alyssa and DTS
