Dear Family and Friends,
Thanks for your prayers and support over the last season of DTS. It has been a wonderful time of seeing God move and work in our students' lives. It is always a privilege to be a part of what God is doing in young people's lives. Our DTS went to Mexico City and the Dominican Republic, we developed many relationships and also God used us to help people and share God's love to the lost. God showed us a little bit about ourselves too. It is cool to see what God is doing in the world around us. As I do mission trips, I realize that we are only a small part of the big picture of God's heart in the body of Christ and the world.
Alyssa and I have been praying about the next season for a while, kind of feeling a shift from God since June of this year. We felt that God was about to bring us into a new season. We brought this to our covering and accountability, both from here and the US. After praying during the outreach we feel like God is saying now is the time to transition. This has been one of the hardest decisions we have made. Belize has become our home and we have many friends and family here. Also between Alyssa and me, we have been serving in Belize for some years (Omar 10 years, Alyssa 5 years). That is a long time; we have met many young people over the years of whom we still mentor today. What does that mean? We will be leaving on December 15 for Christmas vacation and when we leave we will not be returning; we are not sure if it is only for a season or for good. We will still visit that is a given but as to full time work here we don't know. We have started to sell our things here which has been hard because what do you fit in a suitcase?
With that said- the next season awaits. Alyssa has applied for a job working with the ministry (Rock the World) that she first traveled to Belize on a mission team. It will be a part time during the year but full time in the summers, which means we would need to raise the rest of the funds through support. I will be going back to school, working towards my GED and some seminary classes. Alyssa also wants to take classes, no specifics yet, perhaps working towards her Master's degree. We are feeling that we need to equip ourselves for the next season of ministry, whatever that is.
Prayer Points
For a smooth transition (adjusting to culture, different way of life, different roles etc.)
A car (this is our first step to being able to move in the States!)
My Residency for the U.S.A. (which is pricy and can be timely) - pray for the right people, good advice and a fast process
