We've begun a new season...June 17th was the official start of DTS 2009- 3 Belizeans, 1 Canadian-Belizean, 1 Chilean and Nigerian. The variety of students is great and we are more than excited for all that God is going to do. Already the freedom that each student has experienced in their personal lives is seen on their faces, radiant with God's love and His abundant forgiveness. We just finished a week of teaching, getting to know their own personalities and giftings, learning that the only way to move forward is to be healed from the things in the past.
The 6 students also had their first taste of "leadership." This weekend was our Legacy conference for students 16 years and older. Our YWAM campus was swamped with 60 students and youth leaders. The theme of this conference is "Roots Down, Fruit Up!" We focused on our intimacy with God, being submerged in our relationship with God, walking in the river, Ezekiel 47, and then seeing the fruit. Our goal is being with God and it produces fruit.
The intimate times of this conference included worship, dancing, being heartfelt repentant before Him and committing our hearts to change. The importance of students really seeking out mentors, disciplers, and accountability when they return home is huge. We want to see long-term change in Belize, beginning with these students. As the song reads, "I'm gonna be a history maker in this land, I'm gonna speak, speak of the truth to all mankind." We know that we are in the process of making history and it continues with the lives of these young people, Belize a nation of greatness, locked up in the hearts of these ones.
Please be in prayer with us! Our next Legacy conference is July 30 to August 2nd...we anticipate about 80 teens, 13-15 years old. That the fire of God would set their hearts ablaze!!!
love to all!!
