It sure is good to be back in Belize- we arrived Thursday, Jan. 21st with the warm welcome of perspiration- love it!! Omar and I had a marvelous time at home, its such a treat to be with family and friends. I had the chance to connect with a couple friends I haven't seen for a while, visited another friend's new house in Milwaukee, hung out with our 2 nephews and 2 nieces (that was my favorite), special couch chats with my Mum, lunch dates with my aunt, a special game night with the Baierls (whoopknacker!), running away from the kids with my sister, a friend visiting from Canada, shopping trips, ice cream, ice skating, snow tubing, hoop and hollering for the Packers at Grandma's, hockey game with my aunt and uncle, connecting with our church and beloved pastors, surprise visits at my Mum's beauty salon, phone chats with friends and cousins, "Avatar"....it was a full visit. Thanks to all my family and friends who made it special! We are back on base at a more relaxed pace than when we left. There's a DTS in session right now, led by our friends/family, Jason and Sara Andrews. We have international teams season beginning in February, one of our dear friends is coming Feb.10th with a group of young people- we're looking forward to this!! We can't wait to jump in with our youth group, Joshua Generation, we co- lead with another couple, Dion & Andrea Rodriguez. They have been such a blessing in our life and a real example of serving and putting others before yourself. Also, Omar is jumping in with a youth group in Spanish Lookout, he's helping to teach them about worship and how we reflect this not just in songs but in our lives. Last night was the first night! Please keep Haiti in your prayers!! One of our former DTS graduates was in Port Au Prince when the earthquake hit. Amanda Turnquist led a team from the ministry she works with in Minnesota, they were teaching at a small house church when the wave shook the ground. She fractured her wrist trying to help a lady from her team get up so she wouldn't be trampled in all the chaos. Amanda said you can't even imagine the devastation! She's planning to go back in April with a construction team...the DTS will also be spending part of their outreach working with YWAM Haiti, continuing relief efforts.
